SunFlowers in Vase
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut bibendum tortor sit amet ligula rutrum, at porta tortor convallis ...
The painting depicts sunflowers in a vase, yet it is far from a traditional still life. The entire composition is built on contrast and visual paradox. Executed in oil with very broad, bold brushstrokes, it conveys a strong sense of energy and movement. The dominant colors are deep blue and vibrant yellow, with touches of violet in the background.
The sunflower heads appear heavy, almost weighed down by the thickness of the paint and the intensity of color. The petals and leaves are rendered in a highly graphic manner and, unexpectedly, in blue. This contradicts our usual perception of sunflowers. And yet, the eye instantly recognizes their form—we still “see” them as yellow, familiar sunflowers.
This creates the central paradox of the work: the tension between what is actually depicted and what we perceive. The artist plays with the viewer’s visual memory, challenging us to question how we see.
The edges of the painting are painted in the primary colors of the composition, reinforcing a sense of completeness and enhancing the overall decorative and expressive effect.
Where it's been: The work has been presented at several art fairs in China and featured in exhibition catalogs, gaining recognition for its bold visual language and conceptual depth.
